Vacations to new places, my dog Nancy, my husband, doing anything creative, family and friends.
Being late, laziness, not doing your hair for work.
My husband and eyeliner.
I knew it was destiny when I gave my brand new American Girl doll a pixie cut. From that day on every single Barbie doll was cut to the scalp and I enjoyed every second of it. By grade school I was mixing lemon juice and baking soda to try and get the blonde "sun kissed" look, and at 15 I started my career as a shampoo girl. For the past 11 years I've done stage work, photo shoots, and hands on education. Keeping yourself educated and excited about your work is key to success.
I love this industry and everything it stands for. Working along side with my friends and people I look up to is a blessing. It makes this our hobby not our job.
Crime shows, antique stores, learning Spanish, drinking the perfect cup of coffee.
Terrible city drivers, not having a spray tan.
The Amazing Race
I started my career in the beauty industry 16 years ago as a shampoo girl. I knew it was my calling when I was a young kid and would beg my little sister to do her hair and makeup, or take out our dolls and give them trendy short cuts. I've been hooked ever since.
I frequently learn new techniques and freshen my skills. I cherish my clients and love seeing them excited about their hair when they're in my chair.
I've never been happier than I am at MHP. My fabulous coworkers and positive energy make coming to work a pleasure everyday.
Playing guitar, live concerts and adding to my collection.
Box color, hanging Christmas lights, people not putting things back in their place...Ahem Carolyn.
The first haircut I ever did in beauty school, I put my clipper up to this guys head and he passed out cold. Turned out he didn't take his blood pressure pill. It wasn't the most ideal first cut, but I will never forget it.
When I was younger I modeled and it introduced me to this world of wearable art. It always interested me and still does. You learn something new everyday.
I studied and trained at the Sassoon academy in Santa Monica, California, and graduated from John Amico School of Hair Design. I still assist John Amico as a stage artist on various occasions, as well as professional photo shoots.
I can go a little crazy shopping for antiques, any kind of flea market, taking care of our 20 chickens.
When my husband moves my shoes as soon as I take them off.
Anything with the word skillet in it. I like a little bit of everything in my breakfast.
I've moved around a little, but I feel most at home at the parlor. I have a true passion for doing hair considering I have a closet full of mannequin heads with many different styles. I stay up late most nights watching videos and getting inspired by the latest trends and techniques.
I love spending time with my family and friends, sporting events, concerts, and Sunday funday.
Liars, people who slurp their cereal and chew with their mouth open.
Definitely Jennifer Aniston. Kate Beckinsale is up there too.
I have a true love for the industry and all my clients. I've been doing this for 14 years and take pride in keeping up with knowledge and hands on experience. I'm trained under Redken educator Rusk, cutting techniques, along with Keratin system certifications. I couldn't imagine doing anything else!
Spending time with family and friends, dancing, painting, vacationing and rearranging décor and furniture.
When my husband leaves his tools everywhere in the house except where they belong and drivers that don't use their turn signal.
Anything chocolate... especially Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
I have always been interested in the beauty industry. Growing up I was the friend who was asked to do others hair or makeup for special occasions, dances and competitions. After graduating high school I attended college and worked downtown for two years. At that time, Carolyn, the Parlor owner, was my hairstylist and we began talking about my interest in the beauty industry. Needless to say shortly thereafter, I enrolled in beauty school. I am very happy with the outcome of my decision!
My 3 little rug rats, a good fancy dinner laughing with my hubby and friends, and cliche as it may be Shopping of any kind except for groceries!
Mullets. Traffic. Rude people, I like sassy just not nasty!
Binge watching the Kardashians, it's a train wreck but I just can't help myself.
Making people genuinely happy with the way they look and feel. There is no better satisfaction in the world then having a passion and skill set for what you love to do!
